Biography
Dr. George Thapatula Chaponda is the Member of Parliament for Mulanje South West in Mulanje District, sitting for the Democratic Progressive Party. He first entered Parliament after the 2019 election and was returned in 2025.1
In the September 2025 election he won Mulanje South West with 45.6% of the 21,685 votes counted, 27.7 points ahead of the nearest independent, in a field of 7 candidates.2
