Biography

Jappie Mhango has been Minister of Transport and Public Works since January 2026, appointed by President Peter Mutharika. Earlier in this government he was Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development (October 2025 to January 2026).12

He is also the Member of Parliament for Rumphi North in Rumphi District, sitting for the Democratic Progressive Party.3

He was born on 21 June 1969. He has also served as Member of the National Assembly of Malawi (2014).
