Biography

Jappie Mhango is the Member of Parliament for Rumphi North in Rumphi District, elected for the Democratic Progressive Party in the 2025 general election.1

In the current Parliament he serves as Leader Of The House.1

In the September 2025 election he won Rumphi North with 62.8% of the 17,570 votes counted, 39.8 points ahead of the MCP candidate, in a field of 6 candidates.2

He was born on 21 June 1969. Before entering Parliament, he worked as a minister. He has served as Minister of Transport and Public Works (2017–2020).
