Biography

Catherine Gotani Hara was Speaker of the National Assembly of Malawi from 19 June 2019 to 5 August 2025, for the Malawi Congress Party. She was the first woman to be Speaker.1

She was born on 29 April 1974. She studied at University of Malawi, Kamuzu Academy and University of Brighton. She also served as Member of the National Assembly of Malawi (2009) and Minister of Health and Population.
