Biography

Francis Lazalo Kasaila is the Member of Parliament for Nsanje Central in Nsanje District, elected for the Democratic Progressive Party in the 2025 general election.

In the September 2025 election Kasaila won Nsanje Central with 60.1% of the 19,092 votes counted, 32.8 points ahead of the MCP candidate, in a field of 6 candidates.1

Kasaila was born on 28 October 1968. Before entering Parliament, Kasaila worked as a minister. Kasaila has served as Minister of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development (2017–2020), Minister of Transport and Public Works (2014–2017) and Minister of Foreign Affairs (2016–2017).
